Yogscast Games Announces Rhell: Warped Worlds and Troubled Times
Yogscast Games today revealed Rhell: Warped Worlds & Troubled Times, an intriguing, creative semi-open world adventure game where players create spells by using combinations of runes (or keywords) to solve puzzles. Combining exploration, discovery and experimentation, players will face a series of environmental puzzles as they explore 14 main areas. Using one to five keywords, Rhell casts spells which have unique outcomes depending on the combination. With no one way to succeed, players decide how to solve each challenge by experimenting with keyword combinations to help them progress to the next stage of their journey.
“We’re excited to introduce Rhell, a fun puzzle adventure that encourages players to experiment, inspires creativity, and offers a fresh take on the puzzle genre,” said Simon Byron, Managing Director, Yogscast Games. “Alongside the depth of storytelling and puzzle-solving, players will feel drawn to Rhell's emotional development as she goes in search of answers and restores normality to the toon-like world.”
The game focuses on Rhell, a hot-headed mage, who goes on a journey of discovery and self-reflection, tasked with solving the mysterious disappearance of many people within the world. Joined by Beesle, a beetle who provides helpful hints, Rhell’s character evolves during her quest based on the encounters she has with the folk she discovers along the way. Through exploration, players can find clues to reveal the true nature of the story, with the potential for different outcomes depending on the puzzles completed and the NPCs met along the way.
Rhell’s open-world design allows players to roam freely, limited only by the spell combinations available at that time. Players will face obstacles like blocked paths, hazards, and movable objects, which they can overcome by unlocking new spell combinations. With 40 different runes, players craft unique spells by mixing keywords in countless ways, with over 102 million permutations in total. Each puzzle is open-ended, giving players simple and creative problem-solving options based on the number of keywords they have stored.
