What If Base Building Met Tetris? Packed Lair Launches on Steam September 22!

Mystic Forge and indie developer Fables of Wits are excited to announce that Packed Lair, a roguelike base-building auto-battler where every tile matters, will launch on PC via Steam on September 22, 2026.

In Packed Lair, players take on the role of an evil lord with a serious problem: heroes keep invading their lair. Unfortunately, there’s also a second problem - the lair is really, really cramped.

Packed Lair - Official Release Date Trailer:

Players must carefully draft, rotate, and arrange buildings within their limited space, using clever positioning to create powerful synergies, generate resources, and build an increasingly formidable army of monsters. Once the lair is packed and the army is ready, it’s time to let the minions loose and watch them battle waves of invading heroes.

But while the minions handle the fighting, the evil lord isn’t completely powerless. Players can cast spells during battles, giving them a chance to influence the chaos, turn the tide of a fight, and rescue an otherwise doomed strategy.

About the Game
Part spatial puzzle, part base builder, and part roguelike auto-battler, Packed Lair is built around the simple satisfaction of making every piece of limited space count.

Across each run, players can unlock new buildings, discover new combinations, expand their lair, and experiment with different ways to turn a cramped underground hideout into a highly efficient monster-making machine.
