The Hungry Lamb spiritual sequel, The Weeping Swan, gets a demo on the Steam Next Fest!
2P Games and Zerocreation Games announce that the demo for their upcoming visual novel, The Weeping Swan: Ten Days of the City's Fall, will be available during Steam Next Fest from February 23 to March 2. Following the grim legacy of the hit title The Hungry Lamb, this game is set during a brutal historical massacre in 1645. The narrative draws from authentic eyewitness accounts while weaving in dark fantasy elements inspired by the classic Journey to the West.
Set years after The Hungry Lamb during the late Ming Dynasty, The Weeping Swan tells a standalone story that inherits its predecessor's dark world-building. While the protagonists are new, ensuring a fresh experience for all players, fans can expect appearances by Liang and Sui. The art style uniquely blends animalistic fantasy from Journey to the West with rigorous historical accuracy. For more insights, 2P Games has released a Concept Art video on YouTube..
ABOUT THE GAME
The Weeping Swan: Ten Days of the City's Fall is a visual novel offering a bittersweet experience. Players will dive into the gruesome events of the city’s massacre and the story of a young scholar who struggles to maintain his sanity amidst the carnage.
"Lion Camel Kingdom is a book of fantasy and wonder. Due to a bizarre condition, I see people as beasts. I wrote this book to cure myself of this affliction. From the perspective of a common citizen, I recount events from centuries ago.”
The player will take the role of Fang Zhiyou, a scholar with a tragic past who aspired to write books for life. After the sudden death of his childhood sweetheart, Fang starts suffering from Beast's Affliction, a condition that causes him to perceive reality as a nightmare filled with demons. One day, after passing out due to alcohol, he starts experiencing reality as if he were the protagonist of the Lion Camel Kingdom, the dark fantasy book he was writing.

When the 1645 massacre begins, Fang will find himself living in a fantasy world and incapable of discerning reality from delusion. In the Lion Camel Kingdom, the Golden Eagle King is leading a hundred thousand demons to slaughter the citizens. Amidst the chaos and bloodbath, Fang will meet Little Yan, a young girl who bears a haunting resemblance to his lost childhood sweetheart, whom he vows to protect at all costs. As days pass, Fang will gradually recover his memory and, depending on the player's choices, he will either become more lucid or descend into total madness.
“This book is not for entertainment but a warning to the world. May everyone who reads this understand the value of peace and cherish times of tranquility”
