The cold comes for Tersa in Willow Guard’s Frostreign DLC, launching today
A year after the release of story-rich dark fantasy RPG Willow Guard, the world of Tersa stirs once more. Today, independent Finnish developer MiTale has launched the Frostreign DLC, now available on PC via Steam, continuing the tale of Ghweros, a dutybound Willowguard in a land long abandoned by its gods.
The road from Woikos does not lead where it once did. An unnatural winter has swallowed the Atalaka Mountains whole, forcing travelers to rely on ancient portals to pass between fractured lands. But something else has begun to move between them - something watching, waiting, and breaking through from Alteros, the realm of monsters.
On the far side of one such portal, Ghweros encounters Súri, a young wolverine cub who has learned to survive where few others can. Quick, resourceful, and deadly with both blade and bow, she becomes an unlikely apprentice, and a vital ally in the fight against the forces creeping into their world.
Frostreign builds upon Willow Guard’s blend of challenging hack-and-slash combat, deck-building systems, and choice-driven storytelling. Players will slash, dash, and cast their way through increasingly dangerous encounters, now with expanded tactical options thanks to Súri’s presence in battle. Beyond combat, the investigation continues through a clue-and-item system, as Ghweros and Súri uncover hidden truths behind the portals, Nexus Glyphs, and the growing threat facing Woikos.

As before, progression is shaped not by traditional leveling, but through mastery, refining gear, building ability decks, and making choices that define who Ghweros becomes. In Frostreign, those choices extend beyond the self, asking what it means to guide another through a world this broken.
