Stink Buddies Playtest Hits 5,000 Players, Closes in 3 Days

Castello Inc thanks its community as the first playtest of the 4-player dung-beetle co-op wraps up, with a second playtest planned for later.

Independent studio Castello Inc announced that the Steam playtest for its 4-player online co-op game Stink Buddies will close in three days, on October 6, 2026. Since opening to everyone in September, the playtest has welcomed over 5,000 players, and around 1,500 of them filled in the feedback survey.

Player feedback is already shaping the game. The top request from the community was better ball handling, so the team released a playtest update that reworked ball movement, making the giant ball much easier to push and steer and stopping it from getting stuck. The same update made the ball last longer in water, added two new enemies, the Snail and the Uang Beetle, fixed the coin achievement, and squashed a range of smaller bugs.

Players still have three days to jump in, roll the ball home with friends and take on the first boss, the Evil Rabbit. Another playtest will follow later on, once the game has been improved further, and it will probably include a new, smaller boss at the beginning of the game.
