Rogue Waves Catches Its First Wave - The Surf Roguelike Deckbuilder Launches Demo on Steam

All the way from Uruguay, indie studio Pomelo Games plunges back into the world of Steam today with the demo of Rogue Waves, live now.

A different kind of surfing game: humor at the forefront and the power fantasy of chaining physically impossible tricks until the scoreboard breaks.

A different kind of deckbuilder: no card costs, no dedicated inventory and no violence (unless you count your rival’s passive-aggressive one-liners).

Rogue Waves - Official Announcement Trailer:

Test the waters with the demo
Rogue Waves has only just launched its Steam page, but already has a demo available because we're confident it'll win you over! What's in the demo?

  • Fully implemented Rookie deck with over 50 cards

  • 40+ stickers from suspicious sponsors with game-changing effects

  • Wave-drafting system that rewards both strategic play and risk-taking

  • 6 rival surfers with unique effects that mess with your strategy

  • An irreverent surf world full of fake brands, strange locals and radical nonsense

  • Rogue wave mechanic adds a layer of depth and danger to competitions

About the Game
Rogue Waves is a strategic, fast-paced deckbuilder packed with wild energy, absurd combos, and a cast of eccentric wave-riders.

Face off against the unlikeliest of surfers in four-round competitions where the highest score wins. But before you show off your wave-carving skills, you'll need to fight for the best wave in the lineup. That means spending limited energy to outbid your rival, and risking not having enough left to boost your own moves.

Between competitions, visit the shop for new manoeuvre cards, the spa to heal your injuries, the gym for a temporary boost to your abilities, and sponsored events to pick up run-altering stickers for your board.

Set against a globe-trotting fantasy of sun-soaked beaches and chill summer vibes, Rogue Waves blends high-stakes bidding, score-breaking synergies and constant split-second decisions. The result: a tense, addictive loop wrapped in bright colors and off-beat humor.
