RATATA Announced: 4-Player Physics Co-op Set in 1980s Gangster America

Independent game developer The Kingsdom today revealed RATATA, a chaotic physics-based co-op game for up to four players set in an '80s criminal animal world, coming to PC via Steam.

In RATATA, players form a gang of animals who owe money to the Mafia Boss. She is a toad, and whatever she needs done, they do. Something has to disappear from a house across town, something has to show up at someone's door by morning, and something ridiculous always needs handling. Her orders are rarely specific: "Bring me the thing." Which thing is for the crew to figure out, preferably without asking her twice.

Players draft a crew of animals with their own size, strength, speed and abilities, pick the right truck, and take on heists, deliveries and unhinged odd jobs where physics is rarely on their side. Grab it, load it, don't get caught, deliver it, and try not to break it, your friends or the truck along the way. Most of the pay goes to the Boss. The rest goes back into the gang: new crew members, bigger wheels and a better hideout. The debt shrinks very slowly, but the Boss is not going to rule forever.

Features:

  • Draft your crew and grow the gang: every animal has its own size, strength, speed, abilities and driver's license status. One animal can be perfect for one job and a disaster for the next

  • Build your garage: upgrade your hideout and watch it grow with your gang

  • Overcome the dangers: sneak past guards, dodge traps and outrun crazy granny squirrels

  • Do the dirty work: steal it, move it, deliver it, or play along with the Boss's unhinged tasks

Figure out what she wants: the Boss gives orders, not instructions. Argue about what "this" is, then argue about the plan

  • Pack the truck: it only counts if it gets there. Then fight over who drives

  • Pay off the debt: every payday is split between the Boss and your gang

  • Dress for the job: kit out your crew in '80s style, and bail your buddies out of jail when a job goes wrong

  • Bring your friends: play online with up to 4 players, or go solo if nobody picks up the phone
