PvP Starship Shooter Stars of Icarus reveals Q1 2027 Launch Window, Playtest Running July 16-August 3
The upcoming playtest for Stars of Icarus, a tactical spaceship shooter where crews engage in tense 5v5 dogfights, will run from July 16 - August 3 via Steam.
Playtesters can dive into the Cleaved Canyons and Keyport Station maps and access the new Cargo King gamemode, where they’ll battle for control of a cargo ship and outnumber their opponents to maintain supremacy. Use the map to predict the ship’s path and lay traps, and stay in formation to avoid getting picked off.
Also arriving with this playtest are expanded 8v8 servers, all-new tutorials, and countless bug fixes and improvements. This is on top of everything introduced in previous playtests - new ship types, maps, player-owned lobbies, and more.
With the launch window revised from 2026 to Q1 2027, players might have slightly longer to wait, but can help shape the finished product by joining the playtest and giving feedback. They can also enjoy a new trailer, captured with footage from the growing Stars of Icarus community, debuting at today’s Secret Sauce Showcase.
The playtest culminates in a community tournament on August 1, where you and your crew can prove you are truly without equal on the celestial battleground. Sign ups are available on the Stars of Icarus Discord.
