Original Angry Birds Artist Launches Real-Time Card Battler 'Warena' on Steam
Warena is a real-time tactical card battler built for PC, where two players clash simultaneously by deploying troops, casting spells, and pushing toward the enemy base. Inspired by classics such as Clash Royale (speed and immediacy) and traditional RTSs (strategic thinking), Warena comes from Tuomas Erikoinen, the artist behind the original Angry Birds characters.
Warena is a 1v1 duel where you deploy units in real time. Every match runs on mana. You watch what your opponent deploys and counter it before it reaches your base. Runes unlock new cards as the fight goes on, so your deck grows mid-match. Choose a Hero Skill before each match. It defines how you play and gives your opponent something to plan around.
"I love short, round-based games like Rocket League where you always want to go for one more round. There aren't enough of those on Steam, especially ones that don't demand hardcore commitment. I played a lot of Clash Royale and kept thinking: this would work on PC if you built it right. Warena is that game. The goal is simple. You finish a match, you check the clock, it's 3 AM, and you have no idea where the time went," says Tuomas Erikoinen, founder of Part Time Monkey.
