Mouthwashing and Iron Lung Fans Should Play MOLE at Steam Next Fest
MOLE is an unrelenting experience about faith, regret, and the depths we choose to dig. The game is made by a small team of 4 in Sweden featuring tactile sim elements, diegetic UI, and wonderfully horrifying set pieces.
The demo will be part of Steam Next Fest and takes about 30 minutes to complete. You’ll have to operate failing machinery and figure out how to get things moving yourself.
MOLE is a psychological horror simulation with tactile, hands-on systems, closer in spirit to Mouthwashing and Iron Lung. You interact directly with the machine’s controls, figure out how things work through observation and trial, and deal with the pressure that comes from isolation and uncertainty as the descent continues.
The Steam Next Fest demo runs about 30 minutes and gives a clear sense of what the full game is aiming for. Mechanical problem-solving, physical interaction, and psychological set pieces that unfold as you push deeper and start questioning what’s failing, the machine or you.
The demo is available now on Steam as part of Steam Next Fest, with the full game launching in Q2 2026. If you’re looking for a hidden gem during the festival, MOLE is one to play.
