After recieving huge amounts of feedback on the demo, two man team Bad Ridge Games have extended the demo to four in game days allowing players to farm, craft, build, explore and quest further.
Recently, the dev team for Mirthwood announced the AI Storyteller system (Not that kind of AI) that generate in-game events as you play, from heatwaves in Summer to travelling merchants. The selected Storyteller directly influences the game's difficulty. Similar to one of the core insirations behind the game Fable and Rimworld, The Storytellers will be a way of keeping each playthrough of the sandbox unique and interesting.
Direct Intervention
But now the developers are excited to reveal that due to the way the game has been created, the developers will be able to place new and custom events into the game post-launch for all players. Whether that ends up being seasonal themed events or dropping a limited time special quest involving a ghost pirate ship. The possibilities will are endless for new content once the game launches later this summer.
Bad Ridge Games has also released a new development blog detailing mortality and how Mirthwood simulates a complete medieval fantasy world. NPCs are mortal and can die from famine, illness and severe wounds. These NPCs liove out their lives as real people and will have tangible goals like growing crops and earning money from trade, which impact the game's economy.
Mortality paves the way for organic stories; you can build relationships with characters that may die, offering opportunities to intervene. But not all lives can be saved. When NPCs die, new immigrants replace them, leading to fresh friendships.
Mirthwood instills a captivating sense of adventure while allowing you to choose your own path through its expansive world. Mirthwood is set to launch summer on PC. Eager travelers who wish to start their journey can wishlist Mirthwood on Steam today.
