Good Game News from Finland – July 2026
This newsletter shares the good news of the Finnish game industry once a month.
June brought a diverse selection of new releases, demos and updates from the Finnish games industry, ranging from fishing simulations, retro-inspired action games and fantasy role-playing games to VR detective stories, card battles and disc golf. In addition, Remedy confirmed the September release of Control Resonant, Rovio updated Angry Birds Dream Blast, and Supercell’s long-running Hay Day continued its growth with a new collaboration. Playables.ai’s AI challenge to create 100 playable ads is also an interesting example of the creativity of Finland’s games industry.
1. New Game Releases and Updates in June 2026
Hatful Games has released a PC demo version of its fishing simulator Lost Lures. The game can be enjoyed cooperatively with up to six friends. Fishing is not easy but requires players to assess the situation and observe their surroundings.
Fast-paced shooter Ogre Chambers 2222 by Antenna Games has been released on Steam. Representing the intense bullet hell genre, the action game offers a retro-inspired take on a high-speed gameplay experience.
Runoi Games has released its debut title Fortune Fragments on Steam. This fantasy role-playing game combines puzzle-solving with visual novel storytelling. The player takes on the role of a fortune teller who shapes the lives of others through a unique rune system.
Frozenbyte has confirmed that the popular Trine game series will continue, with Trine 6 set to launch on September 17th. The anticipated continuation of the fantasy series offers an experience that can be enjoyed solo or with up to four players. Its puzzles and enemies will challenge players through platforming gameplay.
Disc Golf Masters, published by Bonus Stage Publishing, has arrived on Steam in Early Access. The game simulates the popular disc golf sport with detailed physics and real brands. It includes, among other features, a comprehensive career mode.
VRKiwi has confirmed that it will release the unique detective game Detective VR on September 9th for PC and PlayStation VR2. The game simulates the work of a private detective through an engaging story, investigation mechanics and a mystery to solve.
Horsefly Games has released a teaser video for its upcoming adventure game The Polar Darkness. The game combines Finnish folklore, traditional adventure game elements and cosmic horror. It will be released later on Steam.
A gameplay demo of the card game Warena, developed by Part Time Monkey, has been released on Steam. The game offers a two-player card battle experience in real time. The demo also includes the first four levels of the single-player campaign.
Klothscape has released The Forgotten Spire, an expansion for its self-published role-playing game Eve of Calamity on Steam. The game’s style is inspired by video role-playing games of the 1980s and 1990s, offering players an engaging experience.
Coyote Time Publishing released the 1.0 version of Voltage High Society for PC on Steam. Mixing cyberpunk aesthetics, prison environments, and first-person action, this Metroidvania-like game is full of combat, exploration, and adventure.
Channel37 has released Update 5: New Horizons, the next major Early Access update for its survival game The Last Caretaker. At the center of the update is a new progression path Project Eden. The game is available in Early Access on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
2. The anticipated Control Resonant will be released in September
Remedy has confirmed that Control Resonant, one of Finland’s most anticipated games, will be released on September 24 for PlayStation 5. In the game, Manhattan in New York has been twisted by supernatural forces, and strange otherworldly monsters have taken over the streets. The central character is Dylan Faden, familiar from the previous Control game, who faces the hostile forces of the Resonant in reality-bending environments. Videos setting up the game’s events have been released to help players better follow the story of the Control game series.
3. Rovio supports nature conservation with Angry Birds Dream Blast
Rovio has released the biggest-ever update for its game Angry Birds Dream Blast. The update gives the game a more story-driven approach. A key part of the experience is the Dream Pass event system, which brings fresh additional content to the game every four weeks. Alongside the update, Angry Birds Dream Blast has collaborated with the Dots.eco initiative to help protect sea turtles in Panama. The campaign aimed to bring more attention to marine conservation.
4. Supercell’s popular mobile game Hay Day continues its success
Supercell’s hugely popular mobile game Hay Day is the developer’s oldest game, having been released 14 years ago. Over the past three years, the development team has grown from just a few people to more than 60 developers. At the same time, the game has grown, expanded and diversified in many ways. What at one point seemed to be slowly fading away was reborn through the enthusiasm of its players and the efforts of a larger development team. Today, the game is more popular and fun than ever, and it continues to evolve. The game also began a collaboration with singer, songwriter and actor Joe Jonas. The collaboration resulted in The Cozy Anthem, a country song inspired by Hay Day’s iconic theme tune.
5. 100 playable ads in just 7.5 hours
Playables.ai challenged its team to create 100 playable ads in a single working day, using its own AI-powered tool. The project was built around two Finnish charities SOS-Lapsikylä and Sekasin Kollektiivi. They highlighted support for vulnerable children and families and promoted anonymous low-threshold mental health chat for young people. The team reached its goal in just 7.5 hours, turning a speed-and-creativity challenge into a pro bono campaign for important causes.
