Factory-Building Favorite shapez 2 Is Gearing Up With 1.0 Launch This November
Tobias Springer, developer of the popular factory automation game shapez 2, has announced plans in a new devlog for the game’s full 1.0 launch, targeting a release window of November 2025. The milestone update will bring some highly requested features, including Steam achievements, modding support, and a new game mode that could become the default gameplay experience moving forward.
“We feel like shapez 2 is already in a very solid state,” says Springer. “With the recent updates and current state of the game, we want to get rid of the "early access" label, as we felt it might imply the game might not be ready to be played yet,”
New Game Mode
The new game mode focuses on allowing players to build more permanent factories by ensuring that shapes produced early on remain relevant in later stages. This change is aimed at appealing more to fans of traditional factory-building games. Currently, the game can feel more like a puzzle experience due to the frequent need to delete and rebuild factories.
That said, the existing mode will remain available as the "classic" option.
Modding Support & Achievements on the Way
shapez 2’s 1.0 release will also introduce modding tools and the team is actively seeking early collaboration with the modding community to ensure high-quality content is ready at launch. Interested creators are encouraged to join the official Discord for announcements.
In addition, the update will debut a range of achievements, a long-standing community request.

Savegame Compatibility & Legacy Support
To support the game’s evolution, legacy savegames from the current “classic” mode will not carry over into 1.0, but will remain accessible via a dedicated Steam branch. While mods and achievements won’t be available on this branch, players can continue working on their existing factories.
Blueprint compatibility will remain intact across versions, and the classic game mode will still be available alongside the new one.
