Cozy Co-Op Arrives: Animalkind Demo Adds Online Multiplayer for Steam Next Fest
Indie developer Uncommon Games has announced that the Animalkind Steam demo will receive a major update on February 23, adding online multiplayer just in time for Steam Next Fest.
For the first time, players will be able to team up with up to three friends in the demo, bringing Animalkind’s cozy open-world building, exploration, and mech-powered antics fully online. Previously limited to solo play, starting on February 23, the updated demo will let players collaborate in building their towns, gathering resources, customizing their island paradise, and simply goofing around together in this post-paw-calyptic world.
With seamless co-op, players can experience firsthand how Animalkind blends relaxing town-building with lighthearted multiplayer chaos, all while piloting ancient mechs as adorable animal heroes.
Uncommon Games is also pleased to announce that veteran games writer and narrative designer Kelsey Beachum (Outer Wilds, Avowed, Dying Light 2) has joined the team, and players will be able to enjoy her writing starting with this new updated demo.
Animalkind is an open-world town-building game set in a welcoming wilderness full of charming animal characters, and modern, powerful mechs. Explore dynamic biomes, gather resources, construct a thriving village, and customize your home. Discover hints of what came before and shape what comes next. Play solo, or team up with up to three friends to build, forage, and goof around together.

Features:
Play as an adorable animal! Play as an adorable corgi, tuxedo cat, or North American trash panda (common raccoon), each with unique animations and customizations.
Pilot an ancient mech! Use the power of industrial-grade opposable thumbs and an upgradeable chassis to traverse the world of Animalkind, gather resources, craft, and flex your design skills.
Establish a thriving town! Gather a community of friendly animals by building homes, laying out paths, and planting gardens.
Explore the ever-evolving wilderness! Travel to dynamic wilderness areas with their own biomes, recruitable characters, and resources.
Cozy co-op with your friends! Play solo, or invite up to 3 friends to be a part of your game.

The updated demo featuring online multiplayer will be available on Steam beginning February 23 as part of Steam Next Fest. Animalkind will launch in 2026 for PC.
