Cactus Jam Rides into Town Guns Blazin’ on Meta Quest
The desert isn’t quiet anymore. The UFOs have retreated. The cacti have grown bolder. And the jam? It’s on.
Cactus Jam, the free-to-play multiplayer VR game that began in a basement, has officially launched on Meta Quest with a massive new update. Developed by ContinuumXR-the team behind fan-favorite climber Monkey Doo-and published by Impact Inked, the game blends chaotic party mechanics with social climbing, cartoon violence, and Gorilla Tag-style locomotion-wrapped in a cowboys-vs-aliens theme and topped with a ten gallon hat.
Whether you're holding perfectly still among a patch of cacti as an alien creeps past, or ricocheting across rooftops on a dynamite-powered bounce pad, Cactus Jam brings pure, unsupervised mayhem in a cartoon desert. The world is full of vertical routes, explosive traps, and slapstick encounters that escalate fast and resolve even faster.

Players choose from a rotating mix of game modes-like Prop Hunt, where aliens must scan the desert to spot players hiding in plain sight before time runs out, or Horror Mode, where teams attempt to escape a crashed UFO while mutant creatures stalk the halls. With today’s launch, two new team-based modes expand the chaos even further: Capture the Flag brings parkour-heavy duels across ravines and ruins, while Team Deathmatch turns the town outskirts into a bullet-filled wild-west showdown.
At the heart of the experience is the game’s signature movement system, built on Gorilla Tag-style locomotion. Players sprint, climb, jump, and launch themselves across the terrain using only their hands-no sticks, no teleporting, just pure, kinetic traversal. With no legs and no rules, your cactus is limited only by your own flailing ambition.
From first-timers to seasoned pranksters, Cactus Jam gives players one simple goal: cause trouble, look cool doing it, and try not to get lassoed off a rooftop in the process.
