You wake up in the light of the glowing crystal. You can hear the sea somewhere beyond the fog, smell damp earth and woodsmoke, and for a moment, it almost feels safe.

Then you walk a little too far from your camp.
The wind dies. The colour drains from the trees. Even the bravest player slows down without quite knowing why.

I am afraid that is not a weather effect, lad. That is your main enemy.

What is the darkness, exactly?
Most of the island is covered by a living darkness that warps the land and slowly destroys anything that stays inside it - including you. Lore-wise, the Celts once believed this was a punishment from the gods that came in cycles. The Crown just calls it a bonus and forbids any ship from ever returning. From a gameplay perspective, the darkness is a dynamic layer laid over the world. Every location is either claimed by it or temporarily safe, like your camp. Crossing that boundary changes everything: how the world looks, what lives there, and how long you can stay.

In Brightfall, one to four survivors can brave the island, scavenging, crafting, and defending the flame while your companions - living or spectral - drag you out of danger when the darkness closes in. Survival is a shared struggle against time, dwindling supplies, and the creeping dark - whether you hold the light alone or together. Each attempt lets you push deeper, cleanse corrupted biomes, and raise sanctuaries that endure through resets. What begins as a fragile campfire slowly grows into a haven of fire and iron - a stubborn beacon determined to outshine the darkness.

Features:

  • Living Darkness System: Light is your only weapon. Ignite lanterns, push back corruption, and carve circles of sanity in a world that twists with every flicker.

  • Dynamic World Reactions: The environment and enemies respond to changes in brightness, forcing players to adapt their strategies as the darkness grows.

  • Co-op Survival: Brave the cursed island with 1-4 players. Scavenge, craft, and defend your shared flame while arguing over who forgot the tinder again.

  • Roguelite Progression: Every expedition brings rewards, where you unlock upgrades, new blueprints, and shared knowledge that carry over between resets.

  • Celtic Horror Setting: Explore a haunting world inspired by 17th-century post-plague England and Celtic myth, rarely seen in survival horror.

Brightfall is coming to Steam in 2026, and the team is planning releases on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 to follow shortly. Players can join the Dark Point Games community Discord for support and updates.
