Behind the Signs - Platige Image unveils some more magic behind Netflix's The Witcher
Platige Image - an Oscar-nominated, BAFTA-winning studio known for its work on cinematics for The Witcher 4, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, and the Secret Level: Crossfire episode - has unveiled a breakdown of over 100 VFX shots created for the newest season of The Witcher. Viewers can now explore the dark, immersive visual effects behind spellcasting, set extensions, and brutally convincing gore.
This project was brought to life in collaboration with Platige Image's VFX specialists - Magdalena Rudnicka, VFX Producer, and Adam Torczynski, VFX Supervisor - both previously worked on The Witcher (Seasons 1-3) and Blood Origin from The Witcher universe, as well as Netflix’s Shadow and Bone, to name a few. ..
The team developed over 100 visual effects shots, covering everything from magical portals and duels to blood-soaked gore and environment extensions straight out of Geralt’s imagination. The biggest production challenge turned out to be the brutally intense sequence in the final episode of the season - an emotionally charged scene featuring Sharlto Copley that required an extreme level of realism and connection across over 50 shots.

We wanted this scene to hit hard - both visually and emotionally. In a way, we treated it as the culmination of the entire season, and it just happens to be one of the most epic and brutal scenes in the show, says Magdalena Rudnicka, VFX Producer.
It’s practically a blood-soaked dance performed by an unhinged witcher hunter. Due to its brutal nature, the sequence was a massive challenge: every drop of blood and every ruthless cut had to feel absolutely real, while maintaining perfect continuity of over 50 shots. And I believe we nailed it! Especially since we were able to highlight Sharlto’s great performance as Leo Bonhart. - adds Adam Torczynski, VFX Supervisor.
