Announcing a new game from the creators of JDM: Japanese Drift Master
JDM: Phantom Driver is a standalone action-oriented, arcade racing game with a brawling gameplay focus, inspired by the JDM street culture and Japanese folklore. Drive into an alternative version of the fictional Japanese prefecture of Guntama, conquered by a ruthless demon and take on his cutthroat Oni armies by combat-driving JDM cars while using the supernatural powers of destruction (hakai).
JDM: Phantom Driver combines racing gameplay with combat mechanics in which the car is your weapon. No blades, no guns, only you, your driving skills and hundreds of kilograms of fierce automotive machinery! On the other side of the bumper there are creatures from Japanese folklore - the youkai.
Set in a demon-infested reflection of the real world you will drive on overgrown with moss streets, admire crumbling architecture corroded by the ever spreading Corruption, while nitro-drifting through corners and ramming through your opponents in your combat ready modified JDM cars.
Expect a full-on arcade experience that is definitely closer to the fantasy style of racing. Your cars will be agile, easily controllable, and sharp. They will utilize Nitro-Drift that combines drifting with boosting at the same time, which is crazy fun, easy to grasp and allows for growth and experimentation in how you want to control your rides.
The game will feature a single player campaign told through hand-drawn manga panels, and a fully realised dialogue system, really putting the attention to storytelling in a ‘car-game’. JDM: Phantom Driver is a stand-alone project and requires no prior knowledge of JDM: Japanese Drift Master’s story to understand the narrative, although fans will surely find easter eggs and some character cameo overlaps.
