A new event “Mortar Strike” is starting in Escape from Tarkov

Patch 0.15.2.0 was released in Escape from Tarkov on 26.09.2024. As part of the update, a new in-game event “Mortar Strike” was added to the game, accompanied by a significantly improved system of map to map travel.

Main features of the update:

Mortar Strike
A new in-game event “Mortar Strike” has started. The locals have found a stockpile of mortars and are now regularly shelling the open terrain from safe positions, derailing PMC raids and clearing Scav strongholds. The following locations will be targeted by mortar fire: Customs, Woods, Shoreline, and Reserve, while Scavs, Bosses and other bots react appropriately when mortar attacks start.

Mortar attacks will add new gameplay options, allowing players to choose new tactics when going through raids. To receive and take full advantage of the new mechanics, a new line of tasks related to the event has been added for players.

Players will be able to obtain unique rewards related to the event for completing the tasks:

  • A special equipment item that warns about the start of mortar fire in advance to help avoid dangerous areas

  • A special consumable item that initiates mortar fire at the player's position

  • Players will receive a unique achievement as a reward for finishing the task line, available only during the event

Map to map travel
The map to map travel mechanic continues to evolve. In the new patch, transitions became available in any raid, including in PvE mode. New location transits have been added, and the transition activation time has been reduced to 1 minute after the start of the raid.
The “Marathon” event and achievement have been adjusted and remain available for completion.

AI adjustments
The AI behavior continues to improve in the game, thus in the latest patch Partisan's behavior model was adjusted when moving long distances and installing tripwires, and other bots have been improved to make their movement routes smoother and more diverse after using cover.
