Help Spread Empathy - This War of Mine ‘Forget Celebrations’ Charity DLC Launches December 11th
Ten years ago, a small team of around twenty people at 11 bit studios released This War of Mine, a game they hoped would shed light on the devastating realities of war. A decade later, its somber message feels more urgent than ever.
This milestone anniversary carries a bitter-sweet weight. While celebrations would be in order for a decade of success, we cannot truly celebrate while wars continue to consume lives, stripping away humanity with unrelenting and aimless cruelty. But to mourn in silence would be equally futile. Instead, we’re again using This War of Mine as a platform for change. With the Forget Celebrations launch, everyone is invited to join us in making a difference. All proceeds will be donated to Liberty Ukraine Foundation, Amnesty International, War Child, and Indie Games Poland.
Through initiatives like the War Child Charity DLC introduced in March 2015, and the week-long fundraiser following the onset of the war in Ukraine in February 2022, This War of Mine has raised over $1.5 million for humanitarian efforts.
"As the only video game that portrays the civilian experience of war with such unflinching honesty, This War of Mine remains a universal tale of struggle, survival, and hope. Because of that, we feel a profound responsibility to act and to encourage others to help. The gaming community has proven time and again that its empathy and generosity know no bounds" says 11 bit studios CEO, Przemyslaw Marszal.
Forget Celebrations will be available on December 11th for Steam version of This War of Mine, priced at $2.99. The new piece is developed by the team led by Kacper Kwiatkowski and Grzegorz Mazur (members of the original This War of Mine team), who are also the founders of the game development studio Vile Monarch. The narrative was crafted by Polish novelist Piotr Rogoza, with significant contributions from Wojciech Setlak, one of the original writers of the game.
The cult-classic soundtrack for This War of Mine, composed by Piotr Musial, is making its long-awaited debut on vinyl. Released in partnership with Black Screen Records, it is now available for pre-order.
