Escape Simulator 2 sells 150k units in first week and hits 94% positive score

Indie developer Pine Studio is celebrating the successful launch of Escape Simulator 2, which has alrea4dy sold over 150,000 copies in the first week on Steam. The sequel to the hit co-op puzzle game has also received an overwhelmingly positive response from players, currently sitting at 94% “Very Positive” on Steam.

To thank the community, the team is launching its first Build-a-Room Competition, where players can create their own escape rooms for a chance to win $5,000 and other prizes. There’s no set theme, giving builders full creative freedom, and submissions are open until November 10 at 9 AM CET.

Escape Simulator 2 expands on the original’s physics-driven puzzle design with twelve new escape rooms across themed packs such as Dracula’s Castle, Starship EOS, and The Cursed Treasure, with more content on the way. The game can be played solo or in co-op with up to eight players, featuring revamped physics and visuals, and the powerful new Room Editor 2.0, empowering players to design and share their own escape experiences.

Pine Studio credits the success to its passionate community, many of whom have been with the franchise since the first game’s early access days. The studio has already released a number of hotfix patches to address early issues, and is working on new themed content packs, with more updates planned for later this year.
