New Accessibility Trailers Revealed for Magical Delicacy
Today, Whitethorn Games - publisher of inclusive, accessible, easy-going games - is excited to share its participation in the annual Access-Ability Summer Showcase. Hosted by Laura Kate Dale, the event featured recently released and upcoming video games made by disabled game developers and games that make accessibility the forefront of their design, in order to ensure that as many players as possible are able to play. This event, with its showcased games, is a significant step towards a more inclusive gaming community.
During the showcase, several videos were released that provided detailed explanations of the accessibility features available in upcoming and existing titles from our catalogue of games, including upcoming games Magical Delicacy and Slime Heroes. As well, Whitethorn Games Usability and Accessibility Specialist, Zoey Reyes, provided a short primer for developers looking to include accessibility in their development process.
Some of the accessibility features in Magical Delicacy include:
Easy platforming options that disable disappearing platforms
High contrast options, including character outline toggle and the ability to darken the background for increased visibility
A variety of dialogue options, including effects toggle options, dialogue autoplay options, and a selection of fonts to choose from
Control rebinding for keyboard, mouse, and gamepads
Button hold and quick-time event toggles
Some of the accessibility features in Slime Heroes include:
Customizable difficulty scaling, including reduced damage dealt by bosses and enemies, reduced enemy attack speed, and increased player stamina recharge
Options for cursor size and contrast for greater visibility
Double jump toggle for greater control and distance in platforming
Timed puzzles can be made longer, giving the player more time to complete them
Player character outline in black or white, providing environment contrast
Visible hitbox toggle
Slime Heroes will be available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
